1 HSA Enrollment and Demographic Trends Continue to Emerge:
United Health Group released statistics profiling the enrollment and demographic profile of 25,000 of its approximate 1 million HSA members. The study found that 86% of HSA participants rolled over a balance from 2005 into 2006 and the average rollover was $815. The study reported additional interesting data on the demographics of HSA participants but did not include information on health status or preventive services utilization.  More information

3 Talent Management on the Rise as Top Benefit Concern:
According to a recent survey, talent management is nipping at the heels of health care costs as the top benefit management concern. While cost containment still reigns with approximately 80 percent of HR professionals identifying it as a top five priority, 75 percent of survey respondents identified the ability to attract, motivate, and retain talent as a top five priority. The data suggests that HR and benefit managers will need to be increasingly sensitive to the employee relations impact of health care cost containment initiatives.

4 State by State Look at Insurance Reform:
The latest round of enacted and proposed state health care reforms present a variety of approaches aimed at decreasing the number of uninsured individuals. All strategies aspire to make health care more affordable for individuals and business and the most aggressive approaches include some form of a health insurance coverage mandate. The Commonwealth Fund recently released a study that summarizes the reform initiatives underway in 13 states.  More information
