Understanding
the options for participants stepping outside the traditional managed
care system
Concierge medicine –
sometimes called direct practice, retainer or boutique medicine – is a
primary care practice that charges an annual fee to patients in exchange
for more convenient, more timely, and some would argue more effective
medical services.
Most concierge medicine
practices seek to restore the type of relationship patients had with
their family doctors in the ’50s and ‘60s, including same-day
appointments, house calls and direct 24/7 access to their doctor by
phone. Proponents of concierge medicine argue that the model is not
just about convenience, but that it also improves health outcomes by
allowing the physician the time to help patients with their overall
medical and wellness needs.
Critics of concierge
medicine call it “health care for the wealthy” and worry that
the model will worsen the shortage of primary care physicians and
have a negative impact on patients who cannot afford a concierge
style program.
This webinar will
feature the valuable perspective of a physician who has converted
his practice to the concierge model. The discussion will explain the
concept and practice of concierge medicine, exploring not only the
value for doctors and patients, but also how modern insurance plans
treat concierge medicine.
This webinar will be of interest to HR and Benefits managers who
want to be better informed about concierge medicine. The invitation
can be extended to executive level employees who have a personal
interest in concierge medicine.
